What is this?
As a digital publication, our website contributors believe that we have a responsibility to properly represent our content and media in a manner consistent with values of accuracy, truthfulness, and well-defined scope. While a majority of our content is subjective in nature and open to reader interpretation, we want to mitigate anything that could be potentially misleading, and provide disclosure as it is needed.
What types of disclosures will be provided?
In the following occurrences, appropriate disclosure will be provided:
- An article or post written is being sponsored by a company or brand.
- An article or post written contains content or commentary that could be interpreted as non-public in nature. Sources will remain anonymous unless permission is otherwise granted to release source information.
- An article or post written is citing other published content. Citations will be noted at the end of the article, with cross-linking as appropriate.
How will content that could be considered mature in nature, or otherwise needing additional advisory notice or context be handled?
One of the aspects of publishing an unfiltered, fully-scoped, and socially reflective style and fashion blog is the relationship and contributions of individual aesthetic to the greater ecosystem of human attraction. In other words, the choices around how we present ourselves has the potential to initiate interaction considered mature in nature.
While the site will make an active effort to mitigate content that could be interpreted as a certain f-word, personal accounts and experiences in relation to broader fashion and style topics are an inevitability. In that thought, the site has a responsibility to provide disclosure and will do so as appropriate.
Additionally, the site takes very seriously the physical and emotional safety of children and minors. The site will not promote or condone brands, labels, influencers or content creators that counter this position.
How will content sourced from social media be handled?
In summary, during occurrences which content is sourced from a social media platform, the content will be cited to the best of an article contributor’s ability. As the amount of content increases, editorial oversight will occur to ensure consistency across the website.
As social media continues to grow and evolve, we believe that the implementation of a formal policy is important. In our opinion, it is concerning that bigger publications have exploited these platforms by using, and in some cases have outright plagiarized content from platforms like Reddit on pages where monetization is present.
On the subject of social media, there is a major platform missing from the social media links in the footer. Is this intentional?
In summary, the website will not maintain a page or other content on the Facebook platform. In the event of any page existing on the Facebook platform using the website’s likeness, note that it will not be maintained, endorsed, or sponsored by the website.
Events over the past few years, covered by media and major news organizations and specific to Facebook and their parent company, Meta, have raised concerns about how individual and company data is collected and used. Although the very existence of a digital platform such as ours opens up an exposure to all social media platforms, our decision to mitigate by not actively engaging with the Facebook platform seems most appropriate at this time.
The website will maintain an Instagram profile, but that will be the current extent of our engagement with Meta Platforms, Inc.
This page will be updated as any decisions or change of position in regard to social media platform interaction takes place.
Are there any other disclosures being provided at this time?
This may be considered a quirk on our end, but while scrolling through news and blog feeds we have found certain types of articles to be not worth reading. The usual tell for these types of articles is their headline using interrogative words outside the scope of a question. An example of this would be an article title such as, “Why your shoes aren’t doing your wardrobe any favors”.
The website will not publish content with titles matching the pattern above.
